90Works, along with community partners, will be hosting a “Go Green” event on the corner of Lloyd and M Street on July 11 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Volunteers and community leaders will lend their time to complete the makeovers of eight low-income homes. Once abandoned homes will be renovated to house homeless families, individuals and veterans.

On the day of the Go Green” event, volunteers will complete the renovations by painting, planting low maintenance plants, mulching and rolling out welcome mats.

In Escambia County, 41 percent of families are struggling to afford basic housing and make ends meet. Though they hold jobs and pay taxes, many families do not make enough to afford the basics required for survival. 90Works is is working to produce additional affordable housing for this growing population.

Contributors to the event include CJ’s Café & Grille, Lowes Store 438 (Airport Blvd), Nancy’s Haute Affairs, Sterling Tree Service and Target.
