Parent University
Studer Community Institute is proud ot be part of a new partnership to reach parents.

The partnership is Parent University. Parent University was founded in Savannah, Ga., by Michael O’Neal. Its Pensacola presence is supported by a collaboration between Escambia County District 3 Commissioner Lumon May, Parent University Savannah Board Member Dr. Kim McQueen and the City of Pensacola Neighborhoods Administration under the direction of Mayor Grover Robinson.

Parent University is a community collaborative that supports families with services, resources and educational opportunities for parents. Starting this week, program sessions will be ongoing with the aim to engage and help families learn more about the services and resources available to encourage parent involvement and participation in the education of Pensacola and Escambia County children and youth.

The model is parent-centered and focuses on asking parents what services or support they want or need and then connecting them to those services through community partnerships, which is where Studer Community Institute is proud to be part of the picture.

Parents will work alongside community partners to gain support with classes and course materials. Active participation, input and collaboration is highly encouraged.

Two sessions are planned on Oct. 30. Additional sessions are planned at Fricker Resource Center, 900 N. F St.: at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31; and at Woodland Heights Resource Center, 111 Berkley Dr.: at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.31.

Food, beverages, prizes and transportation will be provided. For more information or to RSVP contact 435-1682. For more information on Parent University's flagship program visit ParentUniversitySav.org.
