Brain Bag families will see a little something in their inbox from us this month.

The first babies to receive Brain Bags from the Studer Community Institute will be four months old this month.

When the staffs at Baptist, Sacred Heart and West Florida hospitals gave new parents the early literacy gift bags, they also gave parents the option to share some contact information with SCI. We hope to use that contact information to continue to send parents tools, techniques and support so that they can continue to use language and interaction to build their child's brain.

The four-month-old newsletter includes tips from the University of Chicago's Thirty Million Words Initiative on why it is so important for parents to talk early and often with newborns and young children. It also includes a developmental checklist for parents to use to help track their child's development.

If you are interested in receiving the fourth-month old newsletter, email me at [email protected].
