Have fun in July at Santa Rosa Public Libraries

The Santa Rosa Public Libraries offer the following events through the month of July.

Preschool Storytime. Storytime programs are presented for preschool children ages three through five and include stories, finger plays and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. Programs start promptly at the assigned times; latecomers are not admitted.

First timer? Visit the library to meet the storytime presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore the children's area and enjoy a tour of the library.
 
Storytime will be presented during the following times through July 19:
11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library
11 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library and the Milton Library
11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Gulf Breeze Library and the Pace Library

Summer Reading Programs through July 19
A Universe of Stories
Explore space with “A Universe of Stories” this summer. Read for 15 minutes per day between June 1 and July 19 for great prizes. Register online or at the library. Pick up a reading calendar at the library or print one online from the program registration page. Bring completed reading calendars to the library's last program or through July 31 to claim prizes!
 
Programs for students who were in kindergarten through the 5th grades during the last school year will begin on June 3 and be held:
1 p.m. on Mondays at the Navarre Library
1 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Jay Library
5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Pace Library
1 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
All activities are free and open to the public. Registration for programs is not required.
Presenters in the weekly library programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library, the Friends of the Milton Library, the Friends of the Navarre Library and the Friends of the Pace Library. Check the library website for additional details at www.santarosa.fl.gov/libraries.
 
STEAM Makerspace - Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Jul. 1,8,15,22, and 19, 2-5 p.m.
Jul. 6 and 13, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Come join the maker's space at the Gulf Breeze Library. Persons interested in drafting, robotics, Arduino, knitting, painting or any kind of hobby have access to the library meeting room. 
 
The Illustriates Graphic Novel Book Club - Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Jul. 3, 3-6 p.m.
Sixth through 12th graders can join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts to discuss the book of the month. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic novel. This month's meeting will be held on July 3, 2-6 p.m. at the Navarre Library. This month’s selection is “Spider-Man: Miles Morales vol. 1" by Brian Michael Bendi. The club will also watch "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse (rated PG). Speak with a staff member to sign up.

Reading with Gabby - Pace Library - 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.
Jul. 6, 10 a.m.
Visit the library to read with Gabby the therapy dog! Space is limited and registration is required. 

Crochet Class – Jay Library - 5259 Booker Ln.
Jul. 8, 3:30 p.m.
Learn the basics of how to crochet! Visit the Jay Library to sign up and get a supply list. Supplies should cost less than $5.

Coffee Talk Book Club - Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Jul. 9, 12 p.m.
The non-fiction book club meets on the second Tuesday of every month for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. This month's selection is "The Library Book" by Susan Orlean.

This month’s selection is “Ender's Game” by Orson Scott Card. There will be no formal meeting this month - come for the showing of "Ender's Game" (rated PG-13) during the Summer Movies series on Jul. 9 at 4:30 p.m.

Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Board of Director’s Meeting – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Jul. 9, 5:30 p.m.
Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Gulf Breeze Library. Visit the Friends’ website at www.facebook.com/friendsofgblibrary for more information.

For the Win! Games Day– Milton Library – 5541 Alabama St.
Jul.13, 9 a.m.
Enjoy playing games? Come to the Milton Library for game day. Bring games from home or play those provided by the library. There will also be an on-going Dungeons & Dragons campaign. This event is open to all ages and game groups are welcome.

STEAM Into Space - Milton Library - 5541 Alabama St.
Jul. 16, 2 p.m.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch, join the library for a space-themed STEAM event:
2-2:30 p.m., help build the Lego Saturn V launch vehicle and other space-themed builds.
4-6:30 p.m., watch the "Apollo 11" movie (rated G) as part of the summer Movies series. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Milton Library.

Game Night – Jay Library - 5259 Booker Ln.
Jul. 16, 3 p.m.
Enjoy playing games? Bring games from home or play those provided by the library. All ages and game groups are welcome.
 
AniManga Club -  Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Jul. 16, 4 p.m.
Visit the Gulf Breeze Library on the third Tuesday of each month to learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. The club is open to youth ages 11 – 17.
 
Tech and Art Club -  Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Jul. 17, 4 p.m.
Tweens and teens ages 10-17 who are interested in robotics, coding, and art are invited to a new tech and art club. Explore art using technology and various mediums. Beginners through expert level welcome! 
 
Third Thursdays with Your County Master Gardener - Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Jul. 18, 11 a.m.
The county master gardeners will present a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for gardening life. This month’s topic, "Bonsai," will be presented by Vicki Baker-Janis.

Third Fridays with UF/IFAS Extension - Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Jul. 19 1 p.m. 
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents "Cooking with Herbs" by Ginny Hinton, UF/IFAS Extension Santa Rosa County family and consumer sciences agent, at the Gulf Breeze Library.

Little Beakers Art and Science Lab - Navarre Library - 8484 James Harvell Rd.
Jul. 22, 1 p.m.
Kids in grades K-5 can visit the library for an afternoon of easy, fun, and artsy science experiments. 

Tween/Teen Tech Club – Gulf Breeze Library – 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Jul. 23, 4 p.m.
Tweens and teens ages 10-17 who are interested in robotics, coding, Arduino, virtual reality, and all things tech-related are invited to a robotics and tech club. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month. Beginners through expert level welcome!

STEAM Camp - Pace Library - 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.
Jul. 23 and 30, 4-5 p.m.
Kids in grades K-5 are invited to attend STEAM Camp.
Jul. 23: Sue Colyer, fourth grade STEAM teacher at Pea Ridge, will present a program about roller coasters, including a story and a roller coaster building challenge.
Jul. 30: Experience magnetism by building a sky track for the next space shuttle to the moon, as well as 3D robots and dinosaurs.
Space is limited for both programs. Registration is required.

Graphic Novel Book Club - Milton Library - 5541 Alabama St.
Jul. 16, 2-6:30 p.m.
This month choose from a selection of graphic novels offered by NASA at https://astrobiology.nasa.gov/resources/graphic-histories/ . There will be no formal meeting this month; come to the STEAM into Space event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch.

Reading Fanatics Book Club - Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
Jul. 23, 5 p.m.
Book club meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. Fiction and non-fiction titles are welcome!

Read with a Ranger - Milton Library - 5541 Alabama St. 
Jul. 24 and 31, 1-2 p.m.
The Blackwater Heritage State Trail Rangers will present stories and activities to kids in grades K-5.
Jul. 24: Constellations and Stars with a Ranger
Jul. 31: Recycling with a Ranger

Bibliobabblers Teen Book Club - Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.
Jul. 30, 6 p.m.
Ninth through 12th graders who are 14-18 years old can discuss the read-of-the-month with friends at the Gulf Breeze Library. Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month. This month's selection is “Across the Universe” by Beth Revis.
