The road to goal-setting is paved with good intentions.

Make it a New Year’s resolution for your business or nonprofit to get smart about goal-setting, individually and for the group, with the help of the next installment of Studer Community Institute’s ongoing training series.

The Institute will host a two-part course, “Designing an Effective Leadership Evaluation System,” — Feb. 4 and 18 — in half-day sessions that will offer tools and tactics to help you and your organization be smarter about setting goals — and reaching them.

A key component of that is an evaluation system that uses objective parameters to help employees keep their eyes on the prize.

Smart, weighted goals bring structure and accountability into your evaluations system.

That helps employees and supervisors prioritize, manage workflow and be more productive every day and all year long.

It’s something that attendees at SCI’s 2015 training sessions said they want to dive deeply into for 2016, says Rachael Gillette, director of professional development for the Institute.

“An employee evaluation tool can make or break an organization,” Gillette says. “Poor ones can seem arbitrary, motivated by personalities or reflect only the most recent time period’s work.

“Strong ones, which include objective goals and clear signposts along the way for what right looks like, help employees get more out of their work and help employers get more out of their employees.”

“Helping small businesses, nonprofits and others understand and implement these tools are a critical part of the Institute’s mission to improve the quality of life for everyone in the Pensacola area.”

The sessions will be led by Kelly Dickey, an accountability specialist at Studer Group, which specializes in advising healthcare systems, school systems and companies across the country in employee engagement.

The workshop will cost $99; for more details, click here.

In 2015, nearly 1,200 people attended the Institute’s training, which ranged from strategic planning to customer service to EntreCon.

And save the date for Nov. 3-4, when EntreCon 2016, a two-day conference to celebrate and support small businesses and entrepreneurs, returns to downtown Pensacola.
