If every applicant looks good on paper, how do differentiate the good from the better — and find the best employee for you and your organization?

Behavior based interviewing is one tool that can help you. It’s one that Kristine Rushing, chief operating officer of Beck Partners, says has helped her company grow and thrive.

It was a process she shared with more than 65 attendees at the Studer Community Institute’s Hiring Talent workshop on Aug. 25 at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

“Behavior used interviewing is very systematic,” Beck said at the workshop. “You tend to hone in on competencies and experience in competencies. It really makes it easier to narrow in on the individual that is best suited not only to the job that you’re looking to fill, but the culture of the organization.”

Rushing was one of the keynote trainers at the session, along with Amie Remington, general counsel for Landrum Human Resources Co. A recap of Remington's session is linked here.

Don’t miss the next SCI workshop, set for Sept. 15 at Pensacola Little Theater. There Thomas Greek of Navy Federal Credit Union will talk about ways to bridge generational differences in the workplace, something that can help you and/or employees happier.
