Rotary Club of Pensacola honored for community work

The Rotary Club of Pensacola was honored for its commitment to the community with recent citations from the broader Rotary community.

The Rotarians have been generous supporters of Studer Community Institute’s work to improve kindergarten readiness in the area.

District governor Innes Richards and assistant district governor Dan Sulger awarded the 2018-2019 Rotary District Governor’s Citation and the 2018-19 Rotary Citation with Gold Distinction from Rotary International President Barry Rassin to Past President Betty Roberts.

“These awards were accomplished by Board Members and Club members for our achievements in meeting Rotary goals and making a difference in improving lives in our communities and around the world,” Roberts said.

Aid to support Hurricane Michael recovery efforts in Panama City was among the projects the Pensacola club was honored for. Others included support for:

— SCI Brain Bags.

— Manna Food Bank.

— Rotary Leadership Awards Camp for 10th Graders.

— Pensacola State College Rotaract.

— Military recognitions.

— Participation in member leadership and development training, attendance at District and International Conferences plus supporting Rotary International number one objective the eradication of polio worldwide.

Current Club President John Trawick reflected that Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who support humanitarian service.

“Our goal this year is to continue to support the goals of Rotary International,” Trawick said.

Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. Rotary connects 1.2 million members of more than 35,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas.
