Vietnam POW shares his story at Naval Aviation Museum

Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. John Borling will hold a book signing of his nationally acclaimed work, “Taps on the Walls: Poems from the Hanoi Hilton,” at the National Naval Aviation Museum on Monday, April 6, at 1 p.m. Highly decorated, Borling was a prisoner of war for 6 1/2 years in North Vietnam. He has flown many aircraft including the F-15 Eagle, F-16 Viper, F-4 Phantom, B-1 and B-52 bombers, U-2 Dragon-Lady and the SR-71 Blackbird. A Chicago native and 10-year Rockford resident, his 37-year military career saw worldwide service in high-level command and staff positions. He graduated from the Air Force Academy and National War College. He is a White House Fellow and a trustee of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois. Copies of the book “Taps on the Wall” will be available for purchase at the Flight Deck Store located at the National Naval Aviation Museum.
