Pensacola hosts Gulf South soccer championships

The Pensacola Sports Association and University of West Florida are pleased to again host the 2014 Gulf South Conference men's and women's soccer championships. This year will mark the seventh year the tournament has been played in Pensacola. The matches will be held at Ashton Brosnaham Park on Nov. and 9. Four semi-final games will be played on Nov. 7; and the conference championships will be played on Nov. 9. Tickets will be available at the gate ($5 a day or $8 for a weekend pass). GSC semifinal tournament seeds will be announced at a later date. In the event the UWF men’s and women’s team make the tournament, they’ll be the defending conference champions two years running. “We are very pleased to have the Gulf South Conference Soccer Championships back in Escambia County for the seventh consecutive year,” said Ray Palmer, executive director of the Sports Association. "This year’s tournament is shaping up to be one of the most competitive tournaments we have hosted. Many teams are battling at the top on both the conference standings. We are looking forward to another weekend of great college soccer and invite all our area soccer fans to come and watch.”
