The Arc Gateway Foundation raised more than $250,000 at Thursday evening’s fundraiser at the Bayfront Stadium. The foundation’s president Megan McLemore was at the stadium, helping clean up the ballpark when she found another $10,000. Bruce Baldwin, the president of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, gave the ambassador of Qatar a tour of Bayfront Stadium Friday morning. During the tour, Ambassador Mohammed Jahan Al Kuwari, who was in Pensacola Thursday and Friday on a state visit, met McLemore. The ambassador asked McLemore about the fundraiser and Arc, which provides services and support for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Once the ambassador heard about Arc’s work and services, he told McLemore he wanted to donate $10,000 to the foundation. “I couldn’t believe what he said,” said McLemore. “It’s hard to imagine how someone who isn’t from our community would give us that much support and recognize the importance of what Arc does. It was wonderful.”
