Argonauts honored at Student Leadership Awards Banquet

University of West Florida student-athletes Kelley Bahn, Elio Latella and Stuart McCrory were honored at the 27th Annual Student Leadership Awards Banquet on Sunday, April 12. “This event gave our student-athletes a chance to be recognized for their contributions on and off the field,” UWF Athletics Academic Coordinator Patrick Ryan said. “It also gives our athletic department a chance to showcase our student-athletes as leaders on campus.” West Florida cross country senior Kelley Bahn (Tallahassee, Fla.) and UWF men’s soccer senior Stuart McCrory (Prattville, Ala.) each took home the Student-Athlete Leadership Award for their leadership on the field, in the classroom and in the community. West Florida men’s tennis senior Elio Latella (Sydney, Australia) was honored with a Cannon Citation for his significant achievement and lasting impact as a result of his efforts and contributions to UWF. UWF men’s tennis sophomore Carlos Moura (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and women’s swimming and diving sophomore Jamie McDonald (Panama City, Fla.) were also honored for their academic achievements at the Honors Convocation on March 27. Moura and McDonald were awarded the Richard and Sandra Berg Scholar Athlete of the Year for posting the top GPA’s among all student-athletes at UWF and were also honored at the event for being named to the President’s Honor Roll. Moura was also honored at the event with an Outstanding Student Award for earning the highest GPA among College of Business students studying Global Economics.
