Beach mouse crossing work starts soon

NEWS RELEASE -- The Florida Department of Transportation announced construction activities to relocate underground utilities and construct four wildlife crossings on Perdido Key Drive between River Road and the Florida/Alabama State line in will begin the week of Sept. 2.
The crossings are meant to accommodate the Perdido Key beach mouse.
Drivers can expect intermittent and alternating daytime lane closures. Traffic flaggers will be one site to assist with traffic control. The $588,926 project is expected to be complete October 2014.
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
