BlabTV’s Talent Search in October saw more than 250 applicants and 60 participants auditioning in front of a panel of celebrity judges.  Now, the results of that talent search are trickling out.

In addition to the casting call for BlabTV’s new original programming initiative, BlabTV and Mayor Ashton Hayward announced at the Talent Search Welcome Event that selected participants from the Talent Search will help create and produce a 30-second television commercial highlighting the Pensacola area.

The production crew for that commercial has been selected, based on the roles needed to produce the ad.

The crew of six team members includes Chris Cook, Chris Jadallah, Charles Ryan, Felipe Munoz, Alexis McDonough, and Samantha Shields.

  • — Chris Cook will direct the commercial. Cook is an experienced director, videographer and editor here in the Pensacola area and has directed and filmed episodes for the Dr. Phil Show, Discovery Channel, ABC network and many local events including the Pensacola Children’s Chorus and the Pensacola Opera.
  • — Chris Jadallah, director of photography, is from Pace. He has been working on video projects since high school, taking every opportunity to get behind the camera and shoot. Jadallah enjoys every part of filmmaking, especially focusing on cinematography.
  • — Charles Ryan, editor, worked in the TV and film industry in Los Angeles for 30 years, spending most of his time editing. Ryan, along with his wife, recently moved back to Pensacola, returning to school to become a licensed mental health counselor.
  • — Felipe Munoz, graphic designer, is a graphic and motion designer always looking for experiences that stimulate creativity. Munoz, spending more than 12 years working in Brazil with global and local companies, has a diverse portfolio. From videos and presentations, to annual reports and branding, you can view Munoz’s online portfolio here.
  • — Alexis McDonough, first assistant camera, is a second year telecommunications and film major at the University of West Florida. With a passion for filmmaking, McDonough plans to pursue a career as either a director of photography, director/writer, or producer.
  • — Samantha Shields, makeup artist, gears her focus toward television and film. With work ranging from “barely there,” to fashion and glamour, to full on special effects, Shields has a creative passion and continually looks for ways to accomplish beautiful things in an unconventional manner.

“Each team member impressed us with their capabilities within their specific area of production,” said Claire Campbell, executive producer for BlabTV. “We are most excited about how dynamic the team members are and how passionate they are about Pensacola.”

The crew began filming the commercial last week, accumulating more than 1,000 shots.

This 30-second spot for the City of Pensacola specifically promotes Palafox Street, one of 10 of the American Planning Association’s “Great Streets in America for 2013.”

“The most difficult part of the process will be editing all the great footage we’ve collected of our fantastic downtown,” said Campbell.  “Thirty seconds isn’t long to capture the essence of one of the top 10 streets in America, but we’re going to do our best.”

Talent Search has been turned into a six episode series, premiering at 8 p.m. Dec. 21 on BlabTV.

The City of Pensacola commercial will air during the finale episode of “The Talent Search” on Jan. 25, 2015 at 8 p.m. on BlabTV.
