The District 3 seat on the Santa Rosa School Board is up for grabs. Carol Boston and Jim Taylor are vying for the position. The Pensacola News Journal previewed their race.
From Boston: Describe the platform/mission statement of your campaign. Santa Rosa County students and teachers need a board member who has knowledge of the SRC school system to ensure that the needs of all students are met. With 13 years’ experience in SRC schools, I will work with teachers and administrator to ensure students at all levels are equipped with the fundamentals, skills and building blocks to form a foundation for continued learning success and growth. Likewise, I will work with others to ensure we instill a desire and commitment to be lifelong learners in our students and to provide students opportunities to explore and prepare for all vocational, workforce and continued educational opportunities. From Taylor: Describe the platform/mission statement of your campaign. I believe that I will be a valuable addition to our very competent School Board. The Board is entrusted with the responsibility of making important decisions regarding policy implementation and conservative fiscal management. I intend to take a common sense approach to all issues and research all possibilities before reaching a decision. I will at all times remember that the decisions that we make will have an effect on the children of Santa Rosa County. I intend to make frequent visits to the schools and keep the lines of communication open by listening to teachers, administrators and parents. I believe this is a necessary component in making intelligent decisions.
