You’ve seen them at the Anheuser-Busch breweries in St. Louis, Missouri, Merrimack, New Hampshire, and Ft. Collins, Colorado. Now it’s time for something a little closer to home. The world-renowned Budweiser Clydesdales are headed to Pensacola. Thanks to The Lewis Bear Company, the eight majestic Clydesdales and their historic red beer wagon will be visiting Downtown Pensacola. These beautiful horses will make a procession down Palafox Street, ending at the Blue Wahoos Stadium. Along with visiting Historic Downtown Pensacola, the Clydesdales will make an appearance at the Pensacola Naval Air Station (NAS) for the 2014 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show. Established in 1914, NAS Pensacola was the first air station commissioned by the Navy for the training of aviators in the infancy of Naval Aviation. The airshow is the centerpiece of the 100th anniversary celebration of NAS Pensacola. The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales have been the symbol of quality and tradition for Anheuser-Busch for 79 years. Today, the giant draft horses are used primarily for breeding and show. Each hitch travels with a Dalmatian breed dog. In the early post-Prohibition period, Dalmatians were bred and trained to protect the horses and guard the wagon when the driver went inside to make beer deliveries. The Budweiser Clydesdales will be in Pensacola November 6th at 5 p.m. for the downtown processional and November 7th and 8th for the 2014 Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show.
