New University of West Florida men’s basketball head coach Jeff Burkhamer will host the first “Shoot for the Stars” basketball camp this summer. The camp will take place at the UWF Field House and will start on Aug. 3 and run until Aug. 6. “I love summer basketball camp and certainly look forward to teaching basketball fundamentals to the youth of Pensacola,” said Burkhamer. “I truly believe that players are made in the summer. We want our camps to be a learning situation but we also want our campers to have fun.” The basketball camp is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15. The players will be learning the game from the UWF coaching staff and players. Cost of the camp is $150. Lunch and drinks will be provided each day and each camper will receive a camp jersey as well as individual instruction, team competition, and daily league games. Enrollment is limited and advanced registration is recommended. A free camp basketball will be given to those who register before July 1. Youngsters may register at the door between 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on the first day of camp provided the camp limit is not filled. For more information call 850.474.3319.
