Columbus Day is going to be a holiday for a few, and the rest of us still have to work, but we all get wet today.

A line of showers is forecasted to move into the area around noon. The rain will stay around well into Tuesday. We dry out after that with temps in the low 80s with low humidity. It's easy to say we will have some very nice weather starting Wednesday through Sunday.

So an umbrella today and Tuesday, flip-flops for the weekend.

COLUMBUS DAY 2014: Before you start making plans for today, take a look which banks, trash pick-up services, schools, post offices, government offices and public transportation systems will be taking a holiday.

POST OFFICES: The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail today, service returns to normal on Tuesday.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES: Since Columbus Day is a government holiday, most federal offices will be closed. Many tax collector services are available online at www.EscambiaTaxCollector.com. Normal business hours resume Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m.

TRASH PICK-UP AND RECYCLING PICK-UP: Trash/recycling pickup will not be affected.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: ECAT will operate as usual.

LIBRARIES: The West Florida Public Library System will be open.

BANKS: Federal Reserve banks and branches will be closed. Many other banks are closed on Columbus Day, but not all of them. Check with your local branch.

SCHOOLS: In Escambia County, it's a teachers planning day, students are off. Schools will be open in Santa Rosa County.
