Cox Communications will recognize 47 students from Escambia County who lead meaningful, productive lives, while working hard to overcome personal adversities.
The Inspirational Student Hero Awards will begin at 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, at the University of West Florida Conference Center.
The awards are given annually to students who have encountered and overcome extreme challenges in life, such as mental or physical disabilities, severe medical conditions, language barriers or family adversity.
The students were chosen by a committee of leaders at their respective schools.
Cox Communications will present the students with an engraved medallion and certificates of honor.
U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller’s office also will recognize the students with a certificate.
“These students have shown an enduring perseverance, inner strength and courage of character to rise above significant challenges and bring encouragement to others,” said Jacqui Vines, senior vice president and region manager of Cox Southeast. “It is my honor to pay tribute to these student heroes. They truly are an inspiration to us all.”
