The Scenic Highway site of the former Angus Restaurant, a staple of the Pensacola dining scene for more than 45 years, is making way for a new CVS drugstore. The City of Pensacola's Planning Services Administrator Sherry Morris said the project has received both a demolition permit and construction permit. Demolition of the one-acre site is nearly complete. Construction of the proposed 6,000 square foot building is expected to begin in early June. The Scenic Highway CVS, part of a national chain of drug stores, currently is housed in 3,000 square foot building just south of the Apple Market. Apple Market owner David Apple said CVS leases the building from owners, who live in Idaho. That lease expires in June of next year. Apple said his conversations with the CVS on-site project manager indicate the new building will be ready for occupancy by February. The owners of the current CVS building have not announced their plans for the  existing building once it is vacated. Angus, known for its steaks and seafood, closed in February of 2014.
