Another son of Pensacola, off to Green Bay. Damarious Randall was the 30th pick in the NFL Draft last night. The Arizona State safety was taken by the Packers. He will join Catholic High School grad Josh Sitton as a member of one of the NFL's most storied franchises. SBnation.com said this about Randall:

Randall is somewhat undersized for an NFL safety, but he's an excellent athlete with good speed and strength. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he was among the top performers at his position in multiple drills. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds, the three-cone drill in 6.83 seconds, the 20-yard shuttle in 4.07 seconds and also posted a vertical leap of 38 inches and a broad jump of 120 inches. He put up 14 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press.

Green Bay has a desperate need for a starting safety, and Randall should be able to step in and fill that role. He's a little raw, but the Packers don't have the luxury of sitting him behind a veteran at this point.

Pensacola News Journal writer Bill Vilona spoke with Randall last night. Read his story here.

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos will host a celebration for the Pensacola High School grad tonight at 5 p.m. at the Hancock Bank Club. His parents Vic and Gwen Randall are both members of the Blue Wahoos family.

Free to the public, gates will open beginning at 5 p.m. Food and beverages will be available to purchase as the 2015 NFL Draft continues on the videoboard and TVs at Hancock Bank Club.
