The 2014 Witches and Warlocks Convention will soon bring horror, humor and a Shakespearean accent to downtown Pensacola.

Climb aboard a Winterfest trolley and Glinda the Good Witch will lead you on encounters with some of the most famous spell-casters in history. You’ll learn a charm to protect yourself from their dark magic, release a helpless victim from a terrible curse, and pick up some candy along the way, thanks to actors from First City Shakespeare.

This tour is a little bit spooky and a whole lot of fun for the family, with singing, interactive visits with the witches, and goodies for everyone.

The rides begin Oct. 10 and last 90 minutes, beginning and ending at the Visitor Information Center at the foot of the Pensacola Bay Bridge. Cost is $5 for children 10 and younger, $25 for adults.

Performances are at 6 p.m. on Oct 10, Oct. 11, Oct. 17 and Oct. 18. There will be two performances – at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. -- on Oct. 24, Oct. 25and Oct. 31.

The Halloween Trolley Tour is a production of First City Shakespeare in conjunction with Pensacola Winterfest, a nonprofit group with a long record of family-friendly entertainment.

First City Shakespeare, directed by Michelle Hancock, is a group of actors and artists in Pensacola. They perform Shakespeare in schools and the community to promote classical theatre, the arts, and the work of the Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company. They bring the work of William Shakespeare out of the textbook and into the classroom and theatre where it can be experienced as it was originally intended, in performance.en
