The Pensacola News Journal reports that Kent Hovind, an evangelist who ran a creationist-themed park "where dinosaurs and the Bible meet," faces new legal troubles. Hovind was convicted on a series of charges related to his failure to pay taxes to the federal government. He claimed not to recognize the government's authority over his endeavors, claiming God was his employer and the only authority he was answerable to. According to an Oct. 21 federal indictment filed against Hovind and Paul John Hansen — a Nebraska man known for his vigorous opposition of government tax and property laws — the duo has been charged with mail fraud and criminal contempt for interfering with the sale of Pensacola properties Hovind was forced to forfeit as a result of the 2006 case.
