The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority announced that a sanitary sewer overflow occurred on Oct. 8 at Lift Station # 138 (6418 Lake Charlene Drive), as a result of damage from the April flood.

A concrete valve box settled and shifted, causing a break in the main. The overflow was estimated at 125 gallons.

ECUA crews have repaired the main and reinforced the support of the valve box.  The overflow area was then cleaned and disinfected with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. The Escambia County Health Department, the State Warning Point, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection were notified.
