Three of ECUA’s major water mains are scheduled for cleaning beginning tonight. The work is expected to last seven to 14 days and will begin nightly at 9 p.m. and continue until 6 a.m. The project cost is $38,911. The setup for the cleaning operations will take place during the day, but the cleaning operations will only take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Work will focus on water mains located beneath Bayou Texar, beneath the Intracoastal Waterway near the Bob Sikes Bridge, and near the Perdido Key Bridge. Crews will be set up on each side of the mains being cleaned at the following locations: — Bayou Texar: At the dead-end of Hyde Park Road at the Bayou, on the east side. On the corner of Maxwell Street and Magnolia Avenue, on the west side of the bayou. — Bob Sikes Bridge: On both the north and south sides of the foot of the bridge. — Perdido Key Bridge: On the north side of the foot of the bridge. Just south of the corner of Tranquility Lane and River Road on the south side of the bridge. Residents and businesses in the work areas may experience some fluctuations in water pressure, and temporary discoloration of the water. This will be monitored closely and crews will be on standby to flush out the lines if necessary. These effects should be minimal, but customers may wish to store some water ahead of time for drinking and cooking. For more information or to report discoloration in the water, call 476-0480 for assistance. The contractor performing the cleaning work is Professional Piping Services, Inc., based out of Wesley Chapel.
