For Santa Rosa voters, all the action will be in the primary election with the conclusion of qualifying at noon today for local races.

Jayer Williamson, appointed this week by Gov. Rick Scott to fill out his father’s term on the County Commission, has no opposition for the District 1 seat. Jim Williamson died this spring, two days after he announce his resignation, due to complications from a liver transplant he had 21 years ago.

The District 2 seat will see fellow Republicans Bob Cole, the incumbent, and Jim Melvin square off in the Aug. 26. There is a no party affiliation candidate, Wallis Lee Mahute, also qualified.

Republicans in District 4 have six candidates to choose from: Karen Aloy of Navarre; James Broxson of Navarre; Ruth Esser of Gulf Breeze; Yvonne Harper of Navarre, Andrea McDermott of Navarre and Rob Williamson of Navarre.
