Children of all ages can enjoy sidewalk art, painting blocks and water sprinklers that will be a part of the Fun Day activities.

“We expect lots of expressions of creativity,” said the Rev. John Powell, a member of the neighborhood association and president of Truth for Youth. “This is all for families and friends sharing in just being together, relaxing and having fun.”

Whether it’s a family of one or a group of 10 friends, they can enjoy hanging out, playing board games, running through the water sprinklers, doing the art or listening to music, Powell said.

Saturday’s event is the second Fun Day in a series of five that are sponsored by the Belmont-DeVilliers Neighborhood Association.

The first in June was considered a great success, complete with “great art, great food and great people,” said Carter J. Gadsden, a local artist and muralist.

They created some great work and a lot of parents were relieved that we were doing this with them,” Gadsden said.

The Fun Day events will be held under the big oak tree behind the DeVilliers Heritage Museum and Dwarf Chicken restaurant every second Saturday through Octoter. Family Fun Dy is free and open to the public.
