The amphitheater at the Community Maritime Park will be filled with the blues this summer.
The Blues Angel Music Blues on the Bay summer concert series begins May 4 with Fatty Waters. The free music series is set to conclude Aug. 31.
Stephen Olsen, general manager of the store on North Pace Boulevard, says the series came together in part through good timing.
“We’ve been thinking of doing our own summer festival or series, and then they approached us and asked us to be a part of this,” Olsen says.
Olsen says they have found and scheduled all of the musicians who will play for the series, which is being put on in partnership with the City of Pensacola's Play Pensacola effort (through the Neighborhood Services Department) and the Community Maritime Park.
The concerts begin at 5 p.m. and will feature local and regional musicians, including:
May 4 Fatty Waters
May 11 Dizzy Jukes
June 8 Ma Ma Lucky
July 6 Diedra + The Rouge Pro Band
August 3 Studebaker John
August 17 Red Dog and Friends
August 31 To Be Determined
Pack a blanket or some chairs, fill a cooler with your favorite food (no glass bottles), and head down to the Randall K. and Martha H. Hunter Amphitheater at the Community Maritime Park.
“Blues music is such an integral part of our local and regional culture”, says Mayor Ashton Hayward, via news release. “The City’s Community Maritime Park is a great place to showcase these talented musicians and to celebrate our relaxed lifestyle. We’re proud to partner with Blues Angel Music to bring you such a great event.”
