NEWS RELEASE -- The Santa Rosa County Public Library system wants you to have fun this month.

Here are some events they have planned to help you do just that.

Internet Safety Month @ your library®

June is Internet Safety Month.  National Internet Safety Month brings an important opportunity to evaluate our online behaviors and identify better ways to increase online safety.  Stop by your library to pick up tip sheets and borrow resources about how to protect yourself on the Internet.

Partners for Pets @ your library®

Join us in June to help Santa Rosa County Animal Services care for pets that need loving homes.  Visit any Santa Rosa County Library and drop off items from their wish list.  Wish lists can be found online at: http://www.santarosa.fl.gov/animals/.  Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Story Time @ your library®

Story time for 3- to 5-year-olds who are able to attend without a caregiver will be held during the following times from June 9 through July 18:

       Jay Library – Mondays at 11 a.m.

       Navarre Library – Tuesdays at 11 a.m.

       Milton Library – Wednesdays at 11:15 a.m.

       Gulf Breeze Library – Wednesdays at 11:15 a.m.

       Pace Library – Fridays at 11 a.m.

Summer Reading

Pick up a reading calendar at your library or print one online from the program registration page. Read for 15 minutes per day between June 1 and July 18 for great prizes. You may register online beginning May 30 at www.santarosa.fl.gov/libraries. Bring your completed reading calendar to your library's last summer program to claim your prizes!

Summer Reading Programs for K – 5th grade

Visit your local library for fun programs this summer beginning June 9.  These programs are for students who have completed K - 5th grades.  Registration is not required.

       Jay Library – Mondays at 2 p.m.

       Navarre Library – Tuesdays at 1 p.m.

       Pace Library – Tuesdays on 5:30 p.m.

       Milton Library – Wednesdays on 1 p.m.

       Gulf Breeze Library – Wednesday on 5:30 p.m.

Youth Chess Club @ your library® – Pace Library

Wednesdays 4 – 7  p.m.

The Youth Chess Club will provide a fun atmosphere for kids ages 7 – 18 to learn the history and strategies of the game of chess. Lessons begin each Wednesday at 4 p.m. with play beginning at 4:30 p.m. Players will be matched based on age and skill level. All equipment will be provided.  Registration is not required. Genealogy Research Assistance @ your library® Milton Library

Mondays 9 a.m. – noon, Tuesdays, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

On Mondays from 9 a.m. – noon, Tuesdays from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St., to give general genealogy research guidance, one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.

Hopeful Hearts @ your library® Navarre Library

Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

A series of meetings for "Hopeful Hearts," a bereavement support group, will be held at the Navarre Library on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The weekly sessions will address grief support following an educational outline and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving over the loss of a loved one. The meetings will be facilitated by Jennifer Gilbert, MSW of Emerald Coast Hospice. All materials will be provided, refreshments will be served, and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate.  The programs are held at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.

Friends of the Navarre Library Book Sale

June 7, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Friends of the Navarre Library will hold a book sale at the Sand Dollar Saturday and Market Place, Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Sand Dollar Plaza located at 1900 Highway 87 in Navarre. June 9, 10 a.m. – noon

Come, Sit, Stay & R.E.A.D. with a Furry Friend in the Navarre Library on June 11, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Registration is required. Page Turners Book Club @ your library® – Gulf Breeze Library

June 13, 10:30 a.m.

Join us in the Gulf Breeze Library study room for our fiction book club. Page Turners meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Friday of every other month. This month's selection is The Land Across by Gene Wolfe. There is a limit of 20 participants, so please call the library or drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member today about reserving your copy! Hospice Hour @ your library®– Navarre Library

June 25, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Daina Skinner R.N., BSN, of Emerald Coast Hospice, will explain how hospice services work, what types of services are provided, and when hospice services might be beneficial. The program will be held in the Navarre Library Meeting Room, located at 8484 James M. Harvell Road in Navarre.
