Grand plans for Panhandle Butterfly House

The award-winning Panhandle Butterfly House will celebrate its grand opening for the 2015 season with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2. The house will be open until 3 p.m, and special festivities will include:
  • Classical guitar sounds of Jimmy Chandler.
  • Refreshments.
  • Monarch Market with many butterfly items for sale.
  • Santa Rosa County Master Gardeners will sell butterfly plants and be available to provide answers to horticultural questions.
  • Holley-Navarre Elks Lodge # 2787 will offer meals to buy.
A variety of native butterflies inhabit the inside and outside gardens. All stages of the butterfly life cycle may be observed on nectar and host plants. Find out about native Florida butterflies. See improvements that volunteers have accomplished during the winter. The Panhandle Butterfly House is in Navarre Park on U.S. 98 at the foot of the Navarre Beach Bridge. It is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday, beginning on May 2. Prescheduled tours for groups of 10 or more are available Monday through Wednesday. Reserve a tour by visiting www.panhandlebutterflyhouse.org. The Panhandle Butterfly House depends on the generosity of its visitors and grants to sustain this incredible educational exhibit. There is no admission, but donations are appreciated.
