Health department issues water alert for bayous

The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County issued a health alert in response to bacteriological samples. The alerts are effective immediatley for the following beaches:
  • Bayou Texar at Bayview Park
  • Bayou Chico at Lakewood Park
  • Bayou Grande, Navy Point - North of Sunset Avenue Bridge
The health department advises against any water-related activities at the above locations due to the potential for high bacteria levels. The bacteriological sampling occurred during water quality monitoring activities and the level of bacteria exceeded the level established by state guidelines. The health department will continue to monitor the water quality in these areas and keep the public aware results.
