In 1993, Mrs. Evelyn H. Lauder started the Breast Cancer Research Foundation dedicated to raising funds for clinical research for the prevention and cure of breast cancer. Currently, 91 cents of every dollar spent by BCRF is directed towards breast cancer research and awareness programs.
In October 2014, BCRF will announce new grants in excess of $55 million to 223 scientists from top universities and academic medical centers across the globe.
Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $500 million. Money magazine named BCRF one of America’s eight top charities.
One out of eight women will develop this deadly disease, breast cancer. At this time there are about 2.9 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. However, you can make a difference.
