The Escambia Sheriff’s Office is once again hosting a popular 5K fundraiser on Pensacola Beach on Saturday, Nov. 15.

The “In Hot Pursuit” 5K offers runners a beautiful beach course, door prizes, and medals for the winners, while raising money for the Florida Sheriff’s Association Youth Ranches.

The Escambia Sheriff’s Office has raised more than $50,000 for the program since 2009. The nonprofit organization was formed in1957 to help troubled boys. Over the years, the program has grown to four residential campuses that serve boys, girls, and siblings, as well as two camping facilities.

This year, the youth ranches will serve more than 5,000 young people.

The goal is to help prevent juvenile delinquency and give children the skills and support they need to overcome their problems through work, education, and faith, while in a structured, rural setting.

Supporters of the Youth Ranches say as Florida’s population continues to grow, so does the number of neglected and at-risk children who need help, and the more donations they receive, the more children they can help.

This is the seventh year the “In Hot Pursuit” 5K is being hosted on Pensacola Beach. You can register at active.com http://bit.ly/1qufntU or download a printable form at escambiaso.com.

Registration and packet pick up is from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 13-14 at Running Wild in Pensacola.
