Holiday activités and events run through October at West Florida Public libraries

As Halloween comes with tricks and treats for all to enjoy, West Florida Public Libraries is offering Halloween-themed activities and events through the entire month of October.

An Al Fresco Halloween
  • Friday, Oct. 16, 3 - 5 p.m. – Future site of Bellview Library
  • Saturday, Oct. 17, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. – Southwest Branch Library
  • Friday, Oct. 23, 3 - 5 p.m. – Century Branch Library
  • Saturday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. – Tryon Branch Library
  • Friday, Oct. 30, 3 - 5 p.m. – Westside Branch Library
  • Saturday, Oct. 31, 4 - 6 p.m. – Molino Branch Library
Join us for a visit as we wander across space, time and reality. Our mega mobile diorama supported by a cast of unique characters will be on site for more fun. Prizes and activities will be available. Appropriate distance measures will be observed.
Social Media Halloween Costume Photo Contest
  • Friday, Oct. 16 - Sunday, Nov. 1
If you attend a Halloween event at one of our libraries, you can have your photo taken and submitted for our social media Halloween costume contest. If the kiddos aren’t able to make one of our events, parents can submit their photo to [email protected] along with this photo release form.
All participants can submit their photos between Friday, Oct. 16 to Sunday, Nov. 1. A Facebook album will be posted West Florida Public Libraries Facebook page on Monday, Nov. 2. Whoever gets the most likes wins a prize! There will be first, second and third place winners. Voting ends on Friday, Nov. 6 at noon. Winners will be contacted by Wednesday, Nov. 11 and pickup instructions will be given then. All participants (guardians of youth) must sign a photo release form to be entered. No personal information will be shown such as name, age, etc. for youth ages 18 and under.
Children’s Halloween Treat Bag Giveaway
  • Tuesday, Oct. 27, 4 - 7 p.m. – Tryon Library
Swing by the drive-thru window at Tryon Branch Library anytime between 4 -7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27 for a Halloween bag filled with a few goodies. How will we know you want a bag? Tell the beautiful, silly, scary librarian “Trick or Treat!” The holiday season has just begun! Bags available while supplies last.
Southwest Branch Library Boo…ks & Treats
  • Friday, Oct. 30 from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. – Southwest Branch Library
  • Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. – Southwest Branch Library
The slightly spooky staff at Southwest Branch Library looks forward to handing out "Make Your Own Boo…k" materials, treats and Friends of SWB Library swag for youth 18 and under. Parents, you can pull up in your vehicle at our drive-thru to pick up (while supplies last).
Halloween Spooktacular Photo Event
  • Saturday, Oct. 31, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. – Century Branch Library
Century Branch Library is offering a children’s Halloween photo prop opportunity on Halloween day. Photos may be included on West Florida Public Libraries Facebook photo contest (with parental permission) so wear your favorite costume. While waiting to take photos, children may pick out a book or video for check out from our ghoulish display. We will pass out fun bags and candy will be available at the circulation desk. Come join us for this spooktacular event!
Monster March at the Molino Branch Library

Can you flap your wings like a bat? Can you lurch like a mummy, how about prance like a princess? Come to Molino Branch Library’s track for a socially distanced spooky walk with just a few tricks and a couple treats on Saturday Oct., 31 from 4 - 5:30 p.m.
