The Gulf Coast African American Chamber of Commerce is hosting a seminar to help businesses maximize social media.

“Back in the day, we were told that the best method of advertising your business was by word of mouth,” says chamber executive director Nicole Dixon. “Well, today that is still the case, except it’s by the words in your posts.’

Dixon says businesses that aren’t using LinkedIn and Facebook could be leaving money on the table.

To that end, the chamber will host a LinkedIn workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at Anthurium’s 1901 N. Pace Blvd.

The chamber will have a photographer available to take your profile picture and will provide assistance in setting up your profile.

A Facebook for business workshop is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at at Anthurium’s 1901 N. Pace Blvd.

Both workshops are $10 for members and $15 for non-members. For details, visit http://www.gcaacc.info/gcaacc-events/
