Manna Food Pantries announces statistics for 2014

Manna Food Pantries recently released their overall numbers for 2014: Over the last 12 months, Manna helped 32,868 people through its programs. 34 percent of those were children under the age of 18, making a total of 11,740 children. 832 children were helped through the Backpack4Teens Program in partnership with the Santa Rosa School District’s Unaccompanied Youth Program. 22 percent of those helped were seniors with the majority being over the age of 60. In all, 6,936 seniors were served, a seven percent increase over last year. For more on Manna’s work with seniors at Westminster Village, read Ben Sheffler’s story here. In all, 15,645 families received help, with 14 percent being active duty, reserve, retired or veteran military.
