Pensacola City Councilwoman Sherri Myers faces Dennis Tackett in a contest to decide who will hold the District 2 council seat. The Pensacola News Journal asked each candidate five questions.
From Myers: Describe the platform/mission statement of your campaign? As an elected official my mission is to empower the people by ensuring their constitutional rights are protected, being a watchdog over how the government spends their money and that decisions are made for the common good rather than just big money special interest with access to public officials. From Tackett: Describe the platform/mission statement of your campaign. Over the last four years, District 2 has not received its fair share of benefits. We’ve complained of being ignored by our Councilperson and we haven’t seen results. I’m ready to work with my colleagues at City Hall to insure District 2 receives the attention it deserves. My goal is to restore civility and productivity to the City Council and to build consensus rather than conflict.
