Dr. Robert Bindschadler, NASA Scientist, Emeritus, will be the guest speaker April 17 at the Panhandle Tiger Bay Club. Bindschadler, an active Antarctic field researcher for the past 25 years, will speak to the club regarding Climate Change and how these changes can potentially have a significant impact on coastal cities like Pensacola. [/sidebar] Bindschadler has led field expeditions to Antarctica and has participated in many other expeditions to glaciers and ice caps around the world. He has developed methods that include measuring ice velocity and elevation using both visible and radar imagery, monitoring melt of snowfall on ice sheets by microwave emissions, and detecting changes in ice sheet volume by repeat space-borne radar altimetry. Bindschadler is a very-respected and regularly advises Congress on climate change issues.
