EggFest, which pays homage to the cult of the Big Green Egg cookers, took over Blue Wahoos stadium Saturday.
The charity event benefitted Pensacola teen leadership institute Chain Reaction. Attendance was near 1,300 people, a 30 percent increase over last year, said Chain Reaction board member Lisa Long.
It brought more than 75 “EggChefs” both local and from across the U.S. who will compete in a BBQ showdown, including a People’s Choice award decided by attendees.
Special guest for the event was Big Moe Cason, star of Destination America’s “BBQ Pitmasters.” Cason, a Navy vet, has competed in more than 130 competitions in his grilling career and served as celebrity judge for Eggfest.
Cason also presented a workshop and cooking demonstration at the stadium’s Hancock Club.
