As Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward seeks re-election, he faces a political novice in Donna Clark.
The Pensacola News Journal previewed their race
Hayward, 45, elected to his first term by 808 votes in the 2010 election, is a political upstart who surprised the favored incumbent, Mike Wiggins. He has withstood a barrage of criticism over everything from hiring an out-of-town ad agency to shape the city's marketing image to consistently not showing up at City Council meetings. Clark, 64, is a would-be political upstart seeking office for the first time. She hasn't been taken very seriously as a viable dark horse by the news media, or by Hayward, who almost never mentions her by name and rarely attends the same public events.Read the story here.
