Santa Rosa schools recognize outstanding volunteers

Community support is vital to the success of schools, and they welcome and appreciate the people who make the sacrifice to serve.
The Santa Rosa County School District recognized some dedicated people who serve when it announced the Outstanding District Volunteer of the Year Award for 2014-2015.
The nine outstanding volunteers recognized at a School Board meeting collectively amassed 4,631 hours. Volunteers throughout the district exceeded 50,000 hours.
Alijean Lautenslager, the first-place winner in the Adult Category from Navarre High School, was chosen by the Florida Department of Education as the State Region 1 Volunteer of the Year.

Second Place: Jayden Rainey, King Middle School
First Place: Hannah Spooneybarger, Gulf Breeze Elementary
Senior Category
Third Place: Sue Young, Hobbs Middle School
Second Place: Helen Cannon, Berryhill Elementary
First Place: Sally Miller, Bagdad
Adult Category
Third Place: Lorna Hawley, Holley Navarre Primary
Second Place: Jen Jensen, Gulf Breeze Elementary
First Place: Alijean Lautenslager, Navarre High School
