Show your bra for a good cause

NEWS RELEASE — Registration is open for the fifth annual Bras Across the Bridge event on Oct. 11 starting at 8 a.m.

Beginning at 8 a.m., participants can park and register at The Grand Marlin on Pensacola Beach. The first 300 participants will receive a pink Bras Across the Bridge T-shirt. Participation is $20 per person plus the donation of a new bra.

Bras Across the Bridge logoAt 9 a.m. the crowd will make its way across the bridge with bras strung together as a show of awareness and support for the fight against breast cancer. The garments will be donated to local organizations that help women and girls in need. Funds raised will be donated to Baptist Health Care Foundation s Mammogram Fund, which helps provide mammograms to qualified women who cannot afford one.

The event after-party at The Grand Marlin is from 9:30 a.m. until noon and includes live music and a silent auction.

According to the National Cancer Institute, more than 225,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year nearly 40,000 will not survive. While there is no cure for breast cancer, early detection enables early treatment and increases chances for survival.
