August is audiobooks appreciation month and the Santa Rosa Public Library wants you to know that summer  reading can also be summer listening.  Celebrate Audiobook Appreciation Month by checking out a variety of audio books from your library.  We offer books on CD, playaways and e-audiobooks that you can download from One Click Digital.  We have over 100 new titles to choose from. There is something for everyone.

Youth Chess Club @ your library® Pace Library Wednesdays 4 – 7 p.m.

The Youth Chess Club will provide a fun atmosphere for kids ages 7 – 18 to learn the history and strategies of the game of chess. Lessons begin each Wednesday at 4 p.m. with play beginning at 4:30 p.m. Players will be matched based on age and skill level.  All equipment will be provided.  Registration is not required. Genealogy Research Assistance @ your library® Milton Library

Mondays 9 a.m. – noon, Tuesdays, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

On Mondays from 9 a.m. – noon, Tuesdays from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St. to give general genealogy research guidance, one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers, and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.

Hopeful Hearts @ your library® Navarre Library Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

A series of meetings for "Hopeful Hearts," a bereavement support group, will be held at the Navarre Library on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The weekly sessions will address grief support, following an educational outline, and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving over the loss of a loved one. The meetings will be facilitated by Chaplain Ken Spivey of Emerald Coast Hospice. All materials will be provided, refreshments will be served, and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate.  The programs are held at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.

 

Family Movie Afternoons @ your library® Milton Library Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1 p.m.

Extend your summer library fun!  Join us at the Milton Library Wednesday at 1 p.m. for family movie afternoon. A movie that is fun for the entire family will be shown.  This event is free and open to the public.  The Milton Library is located at 5541 Alabama St. in Milton.

 

Page Turners @ your library® Gulf Breeze Library Aug. 8, 10:30 a.m.

Join us in the Gulf Breeze Library study room for our fiction book club. Page Turners meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Friday of every other month. This month's selection is Storm Front by John Sandford. There is a limit of 20 participants, so please call the library or drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member today about reserving your copy! The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr. in Gulf Breeze.

 

Raising Chickens 101 @ your library® Pace Library Aug. 9, 9:30 a.m.

The library isn't actually raising chickens, but it is hosting a program on the topic. Raising Chickens 101 will offer a beginner’s guide to the proper food, housing and care of chickens.  Prudence Caskey of 4H will explain which breeds are best for Florida, how to choose the best breed for you, what equipment you'll need and even how to find out if there are regulations where you live. Don’t miss out on this egg-cellent program! It is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required. Hospice Hour @ your library® Navarre Library Aug. 27, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Krista Schueler of Emerald Coast Hospice will explain how hospice services work, what types of services are provided, and when hospice services might be beneficial. The program will be held in the Navarre Library Meeting Room, located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.
