The Red Trolley Tours will soon swing into action with separate tongue-in-cheek tours of Pensacola and Gulf Breeze.
The Pensacola tours, an annual hit, are designed for youngsters and other fun-loving fans of pirates and colorful characters of local lore.
They start with a daring menu – chocolate-covered insects, “bloody finger” food and minty maggots – and conclude after a ride through downtown Pensacola and a treasure hunt.
The Red Trolley troupe – local actors and singers – also are reviving their tour of Gulf Breeze, site of UFO-mania in 1987 that made national headlines but was inspired by a hoax.
“UFO: Next Generation” will visit the sites of the sightings, so to speak, and tour Gulf Breeze landmarks.
The pirate tours, which take about 90 minutes or less, begin at 6:30 p.m. June 13 and 27, July 18 and Aug. 1 and 15.
The UFO tours begin at 7:30 p.m. June 20, July 11 and 25 and Aug. 8.
Both tours begin and end at the Visitor Information Center at the foot of the Pensacola Bay Bridge. Tickets cost $5 for children, $20 for adults.
The family-friendly trolley tours are part of Winterfest of Pensacola, a nonprofit that hosts a children’s parade the day after Thanksgiving and other holiday events at Christmas.
