Want your kids to know there is more to music than Kidz Bop? Try out the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra's "Music For Families" event on May 23. The concert, at the Saenger Theatre, aims to introduce youngsters ages 3-12 to classical music. Preconcert activities starting at 9:30 a.m. followed by an hour long concert at 11 a.m. [sidebar] Want to go? Tickets are available now at only $5 – order online at pensacolasymphony.com or call the PSO office at 850-435-2533. [/sidebar] For this year’s concert, the audience joins the Symphony on a musical adventure aboard a magical train. Train stops along the way will guide the audience on a journey discovering all the instrument families of the orchestra through favorite musical works such as the theme from Star Wars, William Tell Overture, selections from Disney’s Frozen, and many more. The lobby will feature hands-on activities with the Symphony's partners at the MESS Hall, UWF Historic Trust, West Florida Public Libraries, Escambia County Supervisor of Elections, Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, local artist Randy New and more. There will be an interactive art station, a drum circle, and an instrument petting zoo, which will allow children of all ages (and adults) to try their favorite instruments and meet the musicians.
