Two Escambia County officials leaving posts

The Pensacola News Journal reports that Assistant County Administrator Larry Newsom has resigned and Director of Corrections Gordon Pike is retiring at the end of this month. Pike and Newsom were in their respective positions of authority when the Central Booking and Detention Facility exploded in the wake of flooding in April.
Amy Lovoy, management and budget services department director, was named interim assistant county administrator Wednesday. The assistant county administrator aids in managing the day-to-day operations of the local government. Newsom has had a lengthy career with Escambia County, including more than one stint as the county's top administrator.
