UWF men's golf team has sights on another title

The University of West Florida men’s golf team is in sixth place after the first round on Sunday at the Las Vegas Desert Classic at Paiute Golf Resort.
The Argonauts shot a 12-over-par 300 as a team and are eight strokes behind tournament leader Oklahoma Christian (292, +4) heading into Monday.
Arkansas Tech (294) is second on the team leaderboard at 6-over par. They are followed by tournament host Missouri-St. Louis (296, +8) in third.
Juan Miguel Heredia (Cuenca, Ecuador), Spencer Olson (Pensacola) and Talin Rajendranath (San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago) were UWF’s lowest scorers on Sunday, as they each carded a 2-over-par 74. The trio is tied for 13th on the individual leaderboard and four shots behind co-leaders Sam Johnston (70, -2) from Oklahoma Christian and Shea Sylvester (70, -2) from Lee.
Esteban Castro (Bogota, Colombia) and Chandler Blanchet (Gainesville, Fla.) were also in action for UWF. Castro is tied for 41st after shooting 78, while Blanchet is tied for 57th with an 81.
The tournament will conclude on Monday, and the Argonauts will look to jump ahead on the leaderboard and claim the title for the third straight year.
