The Florida Department of Transportation will begin work on a $5.4 million project to replace the Sunset Avenue bridge over Bayou Grande this week.

Scott Bridge was awarded the $5,476,808.54 contract to replace the existing bridge with a two-lane cross-section, bike lanes and 5-foot sidewalks.

During construction, West Sunset Avenue will be closed to traffic; drivers should use Navy Boulevard and Gulf Beach Highway. A temporary signal will be placed at West Sunset Avenue and Gulf Beach Highway.
