The downtown branch of the YMCA will have shortened hours beginning Thursday as utility work will shut off water to the building on Palafox Street. The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority will be conducting necessary utility work on Palafox and the water will be shut off. The Y will observe the following schedule: — Open 5:30 to 7:30 a.m. — Carolyn's 6 a.m. H.I.I.T. and Frank's 6 a.m. spinning will happen as scheduled. — All group fitness classes are canceled. KidZone is tentative. The Y will reopen and resume a normal schedule when the project is complete. Visit their website for details. Nathalie Bowers, ECUA spokeswoman, said crews will replace an old meter with a new one and will repair a service line there. The work is likely to take all day, Bowers said.
